About Uninstall on Mac

Uninstall on Mac is for people who typed 'how to uninstall X on Mac' into a search box and want a straight answer. You don't need to be technical. If you can open Finder and System Settings, you can follow our guides. We write for everyday Mac users first, and we explain what each step does so you can decide whether you want to take it.

Per-app removal guides, published on our blog. Each guide covers the same ground: what the app installs and where, whether the vendor offers an uninstaller and what it actually removes, the manual steps for everything it leaves behind, and a quick check at the end to confirm nothing is still running. We also cover Apple's built-in apps: which can be removed, which cannot, and why leaving them alone is usually the right call.

A few rules the editorial team applies to every guide.

• Tested, not transcribed. Every guide is tried on a current version of macOS, on a real Mac, before it is published. We don't write steps from a vendor's documentation alone.
• Updated when apps change. When a vendor moves files, adds a background service or ships a new uninstaller, we retest and revise. Each guide states the app version and macOS version it was last checked against.
• No bundled downloads. We don't distribute 'cleaner' utilities, we don't wrap our guides around a tool you have to install, and we don't accept payment to recommend one. Everything we describe can be done with Finder, System Settings and, occasionally, Terminal.
• Vendor uninstallers first. When a vendor provides a working uninstaller, we say so and recommend it, then document what it leaves behind.
• Plain language, exact paths. We write file paths and process names exactly as they appear on your Mac so you can copy them, and we say so when we're not certain about something.

Requests go on our list as they arrive, and the apps we hear about most are tested first. The contact page has a short checklist of what to include.

If a step doesn't match what you see, a path has changed, or something we wrote is simply wrong, tell us. We would much rather fix a guide than have it mislead the next reader. Corrections are noted in the guide once we have verified them.
